Ultra Marine, Demi Company. The story so far.

Warning crap photos to follow. . . . .

Even with the simplified paint scheme and the batch painting I have only got two miniatures painted this week.

This is how my Demi company looks now. . . .

This is how it looked 10 days ago. . . .

Here is a shot of the Assault Marines finished

and the rest of the painted figures.

The good news is I have also finished off two Terminators and the remainer of the Company are primed and zenith sprayed so there is half a chance this lot will be finished off before the end of the year.

A couple of miniatures have been sent off to better homes thanks to ebay and I can see another load being listed between now and New Years now my paypal account has been sorted.

Hitting a target is easy . . . . .

. . . .  . . . all you do is shoot first and call whatever you hit the target!!!!!

Here are the first of the Assault Marines finished.

I actually finished all six but the sun set before I had a chance to take any more pictures.

Will post photos of the rest of the squad but will have to see if I can catch the light.

The Munchkin had me up at silly O'clock this morning so I got all this lot below, undercoated and zenith sprayed with Gunmetal spray. . . .

I am going to see if I can get a Terminator squad finished this week.

I have a cunning plan!

I have been trying to paint. . . . . . I really have!

It's not like the old days were my job was a doss and I could find a quiet corner to paint. My new job is brilliant but it is pedal to the metal the second I walk in the door (usually 7.15am) to the second I leave (about 5.30pm to pick up the kids).

By the time I get home the light is shot and I cannot paint the figures on my painting table to the standard I desire.

So what to do?

Well, I have pulled out this lot. . . . .

It's my Demi company of Space Marines.

Do I play 40K . . . . . . NO!

Do I plan to. . . . . . . Not really!

But I do sort of like the look of Space Marines, I find Imperial Guard far more interesting within the 40K universe but I figure this lot painted up to a basic table top standard should look ok.

I have made a start already for Space Hulk and there are these fellas done already.

So it looks like I have about 44 figures to finish.

Not going to set a target of finishing them all but any I get done are chips from the lead mountain.

Fingers crossed.

La solidarité

I know this is my Hobby blog but sometimes real life has to intrude.

Never pick a fight with an ugly bloke. They have nothing to lose.

The weather continues to be miserable and the light has been atrocious for painting but I perservered to get the Marine scout finished for Thursday.

Now I have posted the pictures of the painted figure I wish I had not bothered!

It's only now I can see how badly I have done!

At least the figure is finished. The photo below is my favourate view of the figure at the moment.

I also slapped some paint on the 'head of security' figure but gave up.

Glad I did as I am fairly pleased with the start to the great coat but have made a right pigs ear of the face.

At least they have nothing to lose in a fist fight. 2Key can't make them any uglier!

Inquisimunda back ground fluff.

Ever since it's rediscovery Planet Catharia had been a headache for the Ministorium. Despite being separated from the Empire for thousands of years it had held true to the belief system of the Imperium. The problem was, without the guidance of the Ministorium, multiple variances and schisms of the central tenants had become prevalent amongst the population, leading to constant internecine wars between the various factions.

Upon its rediscovery and the extermination of the more heretical cults it was decided to allow the other factions to continue, but to keep the main populous at a medieval level of development. The reasons were several fold;
By allowing the internecine wars to continue the Imperium could recruit cadres of battle hardened and experienced warriors into the PDF and Imperial Guard.
By extolling the battle honours and merits of a rival factions regiment, the Imperial Guard Commander could motivate his own Regiment to even greater feats of heroics to exceed their rivals.
Thirdly by keeping the wars waged at a medieval level the plantary governor could limit collaterial damage from the constant wars as well as prevent the loss of whole swathes of the population to mechanised warfare.

This was until the appearance of Johan the preacher!

This Heretic had appeared from the central desert like a mirage onto the streets of Catharia Tertius. At first he was ignored by the citizens of the small city, just another raggedy, madman from the desert promising false promises of salvation. However this man claimed to be a prophet of the Son of 'Him on Earth'! A disciple of the Son of the God Emperor!

As the number of Johan's followers slowly grew and he lead larger and larger groups of acolytes into the desert never to return, his sermons come to the attention of the planetary Inquisitor Petrov Instalinov. Inquisitor Petrov lead a band of Henchman into the desert to investigate and apart from a snippet of a radio communication which was soon classified as 'Hereticus extremus' and buried deep within the Inquisitional vaults he was never heard of again!

Unfortunately Inquisitor Petrov was one of the few Inquisitors, the Lords of the various Puritan and Radical factions within the Inquisition could agree on being stationed on this hotbed of potential Heresy.

Now several bands of Inquisitors as well as agents of several pious and antonym agencies where converging on Planet Catharia to investigate!

So the above is my attempt at some background fluff for a upcoming Inquisimunda campaign, set ten years after the Battle of Vigos.  Turns out I am probably a worse writer then I am a painter. Good job I have mad dancing skills ;0)

Genius is talent set on fire by courage. Henry Van Dyke. . . . . . Sort of!

This Sunday I managed to get out of the house at a decent hour to attend the Essex Legion.

The original intention was to get a game of Inquisimunda in, but 2Key is like me and hates fielding unpainted miniatures, especially with how excited we are about our Warbands.

This resulted in us pulling out the dreaded Warmachine!

My Liber Secretorum. Secret tomes uncovered.

Well, found in a box, at the back of a cupboard (but that does not sound as exciting).

During the visit to Warhammer World I popped into the Black Library and while flicking through the books I noticed an 'Inquisitor Wars' series written by Ian Watson. As I was reading the blurb on the back they sounded strangely familiar.

This weekend I finally had time to search through my book boxes and look what I found. . . .
